When a website has a link on their page that links to your website, this is called a backlink

Your google ranking depends largely on your sites popularity. Google rates the popularity of your site by how many backlinks you have from other websites.
What is PageRank (PR)?
This is the rating from 0-10 that Google has given a webpage based on how popular it is (how many backlinks it has). The higher the PR the more popular the page is according to google.
Why do I want seo backlinks from pages with a high PR?
If a web page with a PR of 5 has a link on it to your website then it is a lot more valuable for your google ranking then if the website had a PR of 1. Google thinks that if a high PR website links to another site then it must also be popular.
